Kennett Women’s Groups Winter 2022

Closer Look at Jesus through the book of Isaiah

Wednesday Mornings, 9:15-11:15 a.m., beginning January 26, 12 weeks (Children’s Program available)

The Book of Isaiah, which alternates between promises of judgment and restoration, remind God’s people of the magnitude of humanity’s sin, the judgement that we all deserve, and how God displays his glory by saving sinners. Isaiah’s message ultimately anticipates the arrival of Jesus Christ, the servant-king whose death results in new life for all who trust in Him. God’s Word of infinite justice and all-encompassing grace continues to speak to us today.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings likes eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

This group features live teaching as well as small group discussion.

Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund

Study is full and currently closed.

Thursday Evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m., beginning January 13 through April 7

Christians can easily feel that Jesus is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. They know what Jesus Christ has done– but who is he? How does he feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? In Matthew 11, Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart”, longing for his people to find rest in him. Dane Ortlund’s book reflects on these words, diving deep dive into Bible passages that speak of Christ’s affections for sinners and encouraging believers as they journey, weary and faltering, toward heaven.

Ortlund’s book is rated 4.9 out of 5 star on Amazon.

This group will have assigned reading and study questions.  During each session we will discuss together, pray for each other and lean in closer to hear the gentle whispers of truth of Christ’s love for us. The group also includes fellowship time and a group service project.
