“He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me,
and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God.”
As followers of Jesus, we give thanks in all circumstances for God’s unchanging love and unstoppable grace. God is good all the time so we give thanks all the time.
But in hard times, our thank offerings have extra power. When we give not only in good times but in bad; not only in word but in deed; not only out of abundance but out of need—when we sacrifice thank offerings—we unleash a powerful dynamic. We put ourselves in the path of God’s blessing. We “prepare the way” for God to do his next saving act.
How does that work?
A thank offering honors God as more real than our circumstances and more worthy than our wants. A thank offering exalts the Giver over his gifts. It pleases God and it opens our hands—not only to give but to receive. The empty hands of faith receive more grace!
So we’re inviting everyone to give a thank offering this November. Even in 2020, we thank God for his steadfast love. We exalt him as more precious than our gold and more reliable than tomorrow’s sunrise.
We humbly invite everyone to participate. It’s not about the amount of your gift but your unity in giving. Whether a sacrifice for you is $5 or $5,000, every gift counts and helps. And our solidarity as one elbow-locked body will make all the difference.
