Our Outreach

He has shown you what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

Serving God is sometimes hard but it’s not complicated: Do justice. Love mercy. Walk humbly with God.  We do it individually. We do it as a community. At Willowdale, we anchor our outreach to this text and seek to live it out in three ways: Proclaiming the gospel; serving our neighbors; and advocating for the vulnerable. These overlap significantly, but as we uphold these priorities and partner with others who do the same, we help to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission.

WHAT WE DO

  • Bring the gospel to people far from God, especially in places with little or no access to it.
  • Alleviate food and housing insecurity.
  • Empower at-risk children and youth.
  • Actively care for people facing hardships such as poverty and disability.
  • Organize projects locally and globally.
  • Dedicate at least 10% of our annual budget to support our partners and projects.

    HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

    • Sign up for one of our service projects.
    • Volunteer with one of our many partners.
    • Give faithfully.  By supporting our Ministry Fund, you not only support Willowdale Chapel, but all our strategic partners as well.

If you’d like to learn more about Willowdale Outreach or would like to get involved, please fill out our Outreach Interest Form or contact Gustavo Castaneda, our Community Outreach & Willowdale en Español Pastor.

      WHO ARE OUR PARTNERS?

We have a portfolio of local and global partners. Each partnership is built on shared beliefs and values. Some last for decades; others for a shorter season, depending on mutually agreed upon goals and commitments. Partnerships are invaluable for creating avenues for us to engage in God’s mission. Currently we work with:

Connect Care, one of our newest local partners, is a free medical care pregnancy center that exists to educate and empower individuals and their families to make life-affirming choices. At the core of Connect Care’s mission lies the profound desire to share the transformative love of Jesus Christ and the abundant life He offers to their clients.

Enlace, one of our newest global partners, is Spanish for “Link.” They link people and churches in the U.S. with people and churches in Central America and Nepal. They seek to create long-term solutions for poverty and to help cultivate more fully devoted disciples of Christ in order to bring transformation to these communities.

Family Promise exists to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence. Volunteers provide temporary housing, meals, and services.

Good Neighbors works to make homes warmer, safer, drier and healthier as an expression of Christ’s love. We partner with Good Neighbors on home repair projects several times a year. All skill levels are welcome.

HOPE International invests in the dreams of families in underserved regions of the world through gospel-centered financial services and training. Hope’s work empowers people in the poorest regions of the world to build hopeful, sustainable futures.

The Garage, with community centers in Kennett Square and West Grove, works to empower youth to pursue their potential through after-school tutoring, mentoring and other programs. There are many ways to serve but at the core, it’s all about relationships.

UNTO is the relief and development arm of Cru, a large, multi-faceted mission agency. UNTO serves vulnerable communities through food and agriculture, clean water, and critical aid.

UrbanPromise, which works in inner city Wilmington to provide children and youth with schooling, after-school activities, and community camps. They work to develop and empower leaders in their own community.

YoungMoms serves women facing numerous obstacles such as poverty, single parenthood, and general lack of opportunity. This is a chance to invest in and empower young moms through a mentoring relationship.

Bible Translation in Southeast Asia. We support missionaries translating the Bible and providing literacy training to ethnic minorities in a predominantly Buddhist part of the world. These partners live and work in potentially dangerous locations as they disciple others for Christ, and so we protect their identities by referring to their general regions.
