JENNERSVILLE WOMEN’S GROUP
Registration
Registration fees vary per study. If the fee is a hardship, please contact Carole Hoy for a discount code to waive the fee. Please see the detailed list of groups and descriptions below.
Note for our Tuesday morning groups: Service is built into our time in our groups, as a natural outpouring of our relationship with Christ. We request that each of our women serve one morning this semester in our children’s program, modeling Jesus’ love for our little ones.
Closer Look at Jesus through the Book of James
Join us as we dive into the book of James – a powerful, practical letter that shows what real faith looks like in everyday life. Discover how to live out your faith with wisdom, humility, and action. From taming the tongue to trusting God in trials, James challenges us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers.
This women’s small group option offers bible study, accountability, community connection and prayer at a weekly lunch at Saladworks. Individually, women complete weekly homework and watch the corresponding teaching video that we review and discuss in our group over lunch. Please note that the public setting creates limitations of confidentiality, but it also offers an opportunity for community visibility of women studying God’s word. There are 4 days of homework (15 minutes each day) and a fifth day with spiritual practices to deepen your walk with Christ.

James: A Discovery Bible Group
Join us as we dive into the book of James – a powerful, practical letter that shows what real faith looks like in everyday life. Discover how to live out your faith with wisdom, humility, and action. From taming the tongue to trusting God in trials, James challenges us to be doers of the Word, not just hearers.
We will use the Discover Bible Group method for studying James. Each week we will read the text together, spend 10 minutes answering 4 questions on our own and then discuss them as a group. What do I learn about God in this text? What do I learn about myself and the human condition? What can I obey in this text? What is a core truth I can share with someone else? We end each session using the P.R.A.Y. method of prayer. There is minimal homework outside of the group.

Practicing the Way: The Practices
by John Mark Comer
Be with Jesus. Become like him. Do as he did. That is our calling as followers of Jesus. By adopting not just the teaching but the practices from Jesus’ own life, we open up our entire being to God and allow him to transform us into people of love. In this group we will explore 2 core practices of Jesus, beginning with four sessions on Prayer. The second 4-session practice will be decided by the group (i.e. community, scripture, generosity, etc.)
Each session includes video teaching, time for reflection, guided discussion, and exercises to integrate prayer into our daily life. We will discover simple, practical suggestions to help begin a lifelong journey living out prayer. For those who want to go deeper, there is an optional book for each course; for The Prayer Practice it is “Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools” by Tyler Staton. We will seek to deepen our relationships and community by incorporating a community meal each month.

Loving Jesus: Understanding Jesus and Ourselves through Eight Great Stories
A Willowdale Chapel Core Course
Join us as we look at episodes in the life of Christ that epitomize his love for us. He is the great lover of our souls. The real Jesus is the truly loving Jesus. We love God only because he first loved us (1 John 4:19). This course paints a picture of that love while also equipping us with a method of Bible study (Discover Bible Study) that we encourage everyone in our church to use regularly.
Two books will be used for this study: the study guide and a devotional. Lessons will take less than an hour of preparation each week.

Keep it Shut: What to Say, How to Say It, and When to Say Nothing at All
by Karen Ehman
Have you ever said something you wished you could take back? Keep It Shut is a study that explores how to control the tongue. In this study, New York Times bestselling author Karen Ehman gives women practical, biblically-based steps to learn the essential practice of using words more constructively. Gain practical insights into breaking habits of gossip, flattery, verbal retaliation and people-pleasing. Finally, learn to reduce regret and relational tension and deepen your relationship with God.
You will receive your book before the first session. Between-session reading will take about an hour per week to complete. When we meet online, we will discuss key topics from the book. There will be opportunities to participate in a service project and social event.
